DIFFERENT MOVIES She’s my favourite actor Returning pat reactive lines And in the morning she’ll leave you In the same role undefined I’ve no leading man factor I walk these streets unrecognised Big marquee shining Your name in lights She’s my favourite actor Could play the scene a thousand times Every take leaves us fumbling We sweat under set lights I’ve no business hereafter Back to my trailer I’ll recline Receive your flowers and indifferent wine We came to be in different movies Appearing in yours and mine We leave the theatre for the blinding daylight We came to be in different movies Our different reels unwind Spools on the cutting floor for you and I Cut away Cut away Before you hear what I have to say Cut away Cut, cut away Before you hear me cry

NEW YEAR’S BEGUN Should old acquaintance be forgot Old sympathies not be returning For every year that we have lost For every call another curtain If you lose your innocence To some regret of moral question Keep it out, don’t pay it rent No wardens who’ll just need redressing No decrees bent at knees The sentence far outweigh the done Fill the hole, shirk the pain No more waning to the sun Good tidings and cheer, a new year’s begun Goodbye to the old tears A new chance has come Ah jeeze, hold it please Catch the slipping of the tongue Feel the fire, douse with rain Damn it all to kingdom come Should you ever need a friend A tried-and-true, good-time backslapper Take a coat and pitch a tent To stave off through all kinds of fair weather It’s so cold, where’s the gold? The glowing of the human heart From the sky, down the drain Feel the pull, get swept apart Good tidings and cheer, a new year’s begun Goodbye to the old tears A new chance has come Good tidings and cheer, a new year’s begun Goodbye to the old tears A new chance has come

about

Drums recorded one April '22 day @ Three Phase, Brunswick, and 'fixed' after the event. Templates (bpms and guide vocals) laid down in Sept '21. A couple of guitar parts and the New Years' vocals were kept.
All else recorded at home (Edward St), April-September '22 and mixed with increasing pain on my sorry laptop as it struggled with processing impotency.

Gearheads: all recorded through a Steinberg UR 44 and on to Cubase with a Rode NT1A, SM57 and a pair on Samson condenser mics. A Seinheisser e602 kick mic was used too.
Bass parts through a SansAmp Bass Driver. Midi stuff done on Garageband on my iphone 8 and exported. I mostly used my Ampeg Reverberocket reissue amp and Vox AC4 on something.
Instruments - Reverend Jetstream 390, Ibanez Roadstar II, Epiphone Sheraton II, Morris acoustic, Ibanez Jetking bass, Yamaha Reface CP, Lee Oskar Bb harmonica, guiro (spew fish). Drums hired from Three Phase. Hands for clapping. Lungs for wailing and harping.

Thanks to Three Phase, Pat Cross and Volaris Music for services rendered; Jarrod Brown, Matt Green for friendship, listening and support; Matt Malone for giving me more of an audience than I deserve; SHN Productions and the Shitty Beatles for keeping the chops alive; Henry, Judah, Gabe, Mum and Lizzy Leaf for love and general support.

Thanks also to amazing local muso-friends for the inspiration to keep creating: Claire Birchall, Happy Lonesome, Sean McMahon, Mitch Dillon's Compulsive Ramblers, Van Walker, Henry J. Sawyer, Sean Sully, Popolice, Mia Schoen, Bec Birchall, Michael Plater, to name a small handful.

about

Fairweather Storms Melbourne, Australia

Fairweather Storms is the solo output of Pete Azzopardi: former singer-songwriter of the Coves, guitarist for Happy Lonesome and bassist for Claire Birchall and the Phantom Hitchhikers. It’s a little bit pop, a little bit country, and rocks on occasion. The formula mostly sits in the lyrical type of pop song, the Storm being a devotee of Dylan, the Go-Betweens and the Triffids. ... more
